Configure
Integrations and web search
Connect Linear and Notion, and configure the embedded multi-engine web search tools.
Connect Linear or Notion
Motriz connects to Linear and Notion through provider-hosted MCP endpoints. You do not need to register a developer app or paste an API token.
- Open Settings → Integrations.
Choose Linear or Notion.
- Choose Connect.
Motriz opens the provider's authorization flow in your browser.
- Approve the intended workspace.
Return to Motriz after the provider confirms authorization.
- Test the connection.
The connected card shows workspace or account identity, tool count, and the latest check.
Understand integration access
Connected tools are available to every agent and model when a task requires them. They can read and modify data in the authorized workspace. The permissions of your Linear or Notion account remain the source of truth.
Connecting an integration does not make it read-only. Ask agents to preview or explain destructive remote changes when the task requires extra caution.
Manage a connection
- Test connection verifies the stored authorization and refreshes status.
- Reconnect replaces expired or revoked authorization.
- Try again retries a provider that was temporarily unavailable.
- Disconnect removes Motriz's stored authorization.
Connection changes are disabled during active runs so a tool catalog cannot change midway through agent execution.
Configure embedded web search
Every agent can use Motriz's local web_search and web_fetch tools. Search can combine several engines:
| Engine | Setup | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| DuckDuckGo | No key | General keyless web results. |
| Brave Search | No key | General keyless results through the embedded scraper. |
| Bing | No key | Additional general web coverage. |
| Wikipedia | No key | Reference and entity background through the official API. |
| Brave Search API | API key | Official Brave API results and a more stable authenticated path. |
Set search behavior
Enable only the engines you want. Configure SafeSearch as Off, Moderate, or Strict, and choose a locale or leave Region on Auto. The optional Brave API key is encrypted in the local database.
Test search
Use the test box in Settings → Web search before depending on search in a long run. A successful test shows which engines contributed results. If one keyless scraper is temporarily unavailable, another enabled engine may still provide coverage.
Know what leaves the Mac
Search queries and fetched URLs are sent to the selected engines and websites. Integration tool inputs are sent to Linear or Notion through their MCP services. Motriz keeps connection state locally, but these actions intentionally cross the local-only boundary.
