Configure
Settings
Manage voice models, appearance, editor themes, file icons, app paths, and updates.
Open Settings from the sidebar. Press Escape to return to the app when no dialog, menu, selector, or other floating surface is open.
Providers
Connect CLI paths, browser accounts, endpoints, and API keys. Saved values are encrypted locally. Provider changes are disabled during active runs.
See Providers and models for setup details.
Integrations
Connect, test, reconnect, or disconnect Linear and Notion. Authorization opens in your browser and the resulting session is stored encrypted on the Mac.
Web search
Enable DuckDuckGo, Brave Search, Bing, Wikipedia, and optionally Brave Search API. Configure SafeSearch and region, then run a test query.
Voice
Voice dictation uses local Whisper models. The first use requires a model download; after that, recording and transcription run on the Mac.
- Open Settings → Voice.
Review the available model descriptions and sizes.
- Download a model.
Motriz shows progress and keeps the model in local app data.
- Select the installed model.
Only one model is active for dictation at a time.
- Remove unused models.
This frees local disk space. Removing the selected model requires choosing or downloading another before dictation works again.
Motriz does not upload dictated audio to a speech API. The selected on-device model performs transcription.
Appearance
- App theme: Light, Dark, or System.
- Editor theme: Choose the syntax and diff color theme used by code views.
- File explorer icons: Colored per-filetype icons or a monochrome set.
About
The About section shows the Motriz version, configured repository scan roots, local database path, and local Copilot runtime URL. Use it when troubleshooting discovery or locating app data.
Updates
Installed builds check the published update manifest periodically. A newer build appears as an update action in the sidebar.
- Stop every active agent.
Motriz blocks update installation while work is running.
- Choose the update action.
The app downloads the updater archive with a size cap.
- Wait for verification.
Motriz verifies the SHA-256 checksum, Developer ID signature, and expected signing team.
- Let Motriz restart.
The app swaps the bundle, rolls back if the swap fails, and relaunches after success.
